LOL, ah I’m quoting Douglass because he’s my folks. Unlike most conservatives I take his body of work and his historical context into consideration, especially discussions around “white help” around the emancipation period. For me, it is not simply about “white help” rather it is about assuring those who have gained on the backs of me and my ancestors provide their just part in contributing to my people’s uplift, on our own terms ;)

Have you switched over to our side of the debate? I’m glad to see you quoting the elegant and great writings of Frederick Douglass, but you do know that he explicitly rejected the notion of “white help” to allay the “guilt” of the white man, on the grounds that white interference of even the well-motivated kind had already (even in, or especially in, the 1860s) caused so many problems.
