I grapple with this too. I have learned to be very careful as to who I hold up as someone I would like to emulate.

What's scary is that a great number of great musicians were abusers. Look at Miles Davis for example.

I agree that many of us are walking contradictions but we must look at one another and ourselves with a very critical eye. if we talk about Big Pun or Kool G Rap, the fact that they were/are abusers must be discussed. Instead we create these giants of mere men.

Good post. This is something that I have been trying to bring to light for over the past decade and 1/2. We have to make this more aware as well hold each other more accountable, not just as men but as a community because a lot of men think it’s ok to do this because a lot of women don’t hold them accountable either. It is all of our responsiblity to stop this. We men cannot let this keep happening to our sisters, daughters, mothers, girlfriends & wives.
