Thanks for the solid review Dumi. I went in with exceptionally low expectations, and they were met. I agree that Big Boi should not have been looking into the camera while performing. Nevertheless, I was entertained.

You’re right. My parents suffer from ithat affliction too. I remember being about 12 and asking them why it was ok for Marvin Gaye to ask for “Sexual Healing” but R Kelly couldn’t “Sex Me.” They thought R Kelly was setting the race back about 50 years, while Marvin was a revolutionary. I guess they forgot how much their parents despised Gaye when they were young.

I think Davis may be suffering from old black man syndrome, you know Cosby and others have been suffering for a while, so pretty soon it will be an epidemic.

Afrofuturism... found it through hip hop and doing research on hip hop. I actually took a class from an "afrofuturist" artist in college, I just thought his stuff was dope, before I even knew that it was a movement.

Ahhhh. You say it so well.
First - let me begin by asking if Davis criticised the white band/music group named IDLEWILD. Who cares what they name the fictional town - its fiction.
Second - the obvious connection between hip-hop and music of an era we know so little about - was wonderful. I think black folks just learned a little more about the progression of black music.
Teaching people is always a good thing.
Third - does davis even know what a minstrel show is? Did he not see BAMBOOZLED. There was nothing remnant of BAMBOOZLED in this film.

That was my 5 cents. I'd see it again.
