I would say that laying 'acting white' to rest would have to be set in force by parents. If a black parent doesn't applaud their child's quest for knowledge but that child sees white parents do so, s/he will continue to associate scholastic achievement as “acting white” and will continue to berate her/his black classmates who are attempting to learn something

That we as black people are constantly looking for a crutch in these two. Although I don’t see a very apparent connection between them, I think that they both show how we are having trouble adopting a “no excuses” mentality in our lives. Everybody wants to win, but nobody wants to work.
